Each peer support network will be comprised of 10 carers and 10 cared for people. The carers will offer each other a minimum 5 hours per month of reciprocated respite care and support. The cared for person will have the opportunity to engage in a multitude of different activities whilst their carer either provides or receives respite. The aim of the project is to create self-sustaining support for carers and cared for people. This will help to improve their mental wellbeing upskill them through training and help them to develop friendships.
