The ....more The Churches Conservation Trust is the national charity protecting historic churches at risk, and since 1969 has saved 356 Grade I, II* and II listed buildings no longer used for regular worship. The estate ranges from virtually untouched medieval churches in rural settings, to ornate urban Victorian churches that are of high architectural, archaeological or historical significance, some are scheduled ancient monuments. The Trust undertakes specialist conservation and works with communities, local organisations and volunteers to find new uses for churches as cultural, social, tourism and educational resources, bringing them back to life to be enjoyed by all. The Trust is supported by 1,800 volunteers, welcomes 1.9 million visitors annually and employs 70 staff across three operational regions. Since 2013 the Trust has an open door policy to ensure buildings in our care are open 364 days a year during daylight (subject to the support of volunteers).
