The ambition of the Northumberland Peat Partnership (NPP) is to develop a roadmap for peatland restoration across the NPP area and contribute proportionally to DEFRAs targets of putting 35,000ha. degraded peatland on a trajectory to restoration by 2035. A successful NfC Discovery Grant bid would enable NPP to continue its programme of peatland assessment and restoration work with a bid to the NfC Restoration Grant and will define and prioritise the peatland restoration potential to secure further funding over the next 25 years and beyond.
