A project to support visually impaired (VI) people, their families, friends, and carers to overcome the challenges of everyday living. The project will include recreational activities, befriending and home visits, and courses such as welfare benefits, housing, and access to local and national services. The scheme will also provide services in community settings such as libraries, medical centres, hospitals, residential homes and centres. The scheme aims to benefit 920 people.

The project will intervene at the crisis point, reducing anxiety by giving people the opportunity to express how they feel and access key information and advice. The project will be based in eye clinics and community hospitals throughout Devon to ensure engagement. Workshops assisted by partner organisations such as Mind, Sense, Age UK and Guide Dogs, will also be available.

This project aims to provide opportunities for more than 7,400 visually impaired (VI) people to participate in physical, social and cultural activities in a supportive setting. ABP will offer excursions and activities for guests in its specially adapted hotels in Cumbria, Devon, Somerset and West Sussex. A range of physical activities will be offered including high level walking, pony trekking, tandem cycling and sailing, as well as social and cultural activities such as theatre and shopping trips.

This expansion of an existing project will provide a range of services to people who are blind or partially sighted, a targeted response to the growing number of unemployed blind and partially sighted people in the North East of England. Beneficiaries will receive training activities such as business planning, sales and marketing, presentation skills and CV writing, providing a developmental pathway for 300 visually impaired people to become entrepreneurs and economically active.

This development of an existing project will provide activities and excursions for visually impaired people and their families through four specially-adapted hotels in the Lake District, Somerset, Devon and West Sussex. The project aims to provide physical, social and cultural activities to reduce isolation and improve well-being. Activities will include walking, canoeing, sailing and fishing. Opportunities will also be provided for local volunteers to become involved in the project as sighted guides.
