Headspace is a mental health peer support project. It will establish up to four groups to encourage women to talk about their mental health and offer support to each other. Peer Facilitators will be trained and supported to lead the groups. Each two-hour group will begin with a reminder of what peer support is and ground rules will be agreed. There will be a check-in around the room and the group will identify two topics for further discussion. There will be a comfort break half-way through. The group will finish with a check-out.The first group will be generic but themes will be considered as new groups emerge eg a trans group, a Muslim women's group, an anxiety group.Women attending will be more resilient, feel more motivated and will see an increase in positive relationships in their life.

Social isolation reduces as women take ownership of the groups they are part of, become more involved in creating their own networks and supporting others to become involved. Our day-time Crafty Club is an example of this and we want this project to result in more self-run groups and activities. Women can participate in activities and slowly build up to talking at their own pace and then start to form friendships. Our latest survey found that 34% of women using the Centre had made new friends and 36% felt more confident. Crafty Club created an art piece called 'Helping amazing things happen when women support and inspire each other'. It was for an exhibition and consisted of 3 panels. The first showed how they felt before the group and featured words like alone and empty, despair, isolated, frightened and depressed, the middle panel was framed by linked hand prints of all the members with a poem about friendship and the last one was their hopes for the future such as happiness, friendship, laughter, success. Most of them hadnt even been able to think about the future before starting the group. Outputs and Outcomes we will measure Quantitative The number of groups and activities The number of new and regular women attending Qualitative Relationships and support networks Women will report an increase in positive relationships.
