SAND DAMS WORLDWIDE LIMITED

Overview

Sand Dams Worldwide helps communities in poverty-stricken countries gain access to clean water by building sand dams and school water tanks. Their pioneering approach has been developed in collaboration with academic institutions, local in-country partners specialising in sand dam constructions, and the local communities themselves.

Studies indicate interventions have long-lasting impacts with access to sand dams reducing household sicknesses, increasing food availability and adding to household incomes. Positive environmental impacts also allow new water sources to rejuvenate drylands thereby increasing ability to plant trees. They have ambitious goals to reach a position where they enable hundreds of sand dam builds every year and for those dams to aid millions of people globally.
