The funding will be used to counter loneliness and isolation for an estimated 1250 older people building dementia advocacy skills to address particular local challenges and amplifying older people's voices. This continues the work begun through the partnership's Reaching Communities project Better Together which saw BJF complement the face-to-face work of the other charities primarily as an evaluator. In this project MHA will deliver services in urban North Stoke (Stoke-on-Trent being England's 13th most deprived local authority) and the largely rural Staffordshire Moorlands (which has Staffordshire's highest rate of old-age dependency). FHC will be delivering services throughout urban South Stoke and urban / rural Newcastle-under-Lyme.
