This project will provide a new model of advice and advocacy provision to users with complex health and social issues. The traditional advice model is not appropriate for them. The Special Support Project will offer a tailored service to this group with casework and regular contact with users and ongoing structured support. This will include legal advice and casework an income maximisation assessment assistance with personal money and debt management soft training on improving life skills and referral to other services such as local colleges.

The project is using funding to remotely support generalist advice agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureaus (CABs) who undertake specialist legal casework on behalf of their clients. The project will primarily cover London Devon Cornwall Worcestershire and Herefordshire but also other rural areas where there is limited or no specialist legal support. The Centre will provide free and independent specialist legal advice and support on a range of issues including housing welfare employment law and family law.
