ATT is a professional theatre company based in Ellesmere Port. Our aim is to transform the lives of children and young people through theatre and the arts, using creativity to realise potential. Our project aims to significantly improve the lives of local children and young people, by providing a safe space for participants to be creative, express themselves, be inspired, develop confidence, learn new skills and form new friendships; reducing social isolation, improving mental health and raising levels of aspiration. The funding will enable us to run free weekly, specialist drama provision for young people aged between 7-11 and 12-17 yrs in Ellesmere Port, supported by a pastoral support worker who will meet the needs of participants, many of whom have additional/complex needs including mental health challenges. A grant will allow existing weekly groups to be moved into community venues and continue in new forms while capital works are underway. The key outcomes we expect to see will include 1) improved health and wellbeing; by improving emotional literacy through drama, reducing stress and social isolation and empowering young people to express themselves - significantly improving levels of confidence and self esteem and helping young people cope with mental health challenges 2) Raising levels of aspiration by enabling local children and young people to use their creativity to realise their potential, broadening horizons.

The proposal is to develop a digital arts outreach programme, initially in a light-touch wayusing technology such as mobile phones and tablets. This will form the basis to build more engagement and drama based approaches supported by a youth and community artist. Activities wil take place in community venues and public places such as parks. An additional dimension to the project is around creating a 'story' or narrative which will link the different pieces of work undertaken.
